A Little Bit of Everything

Shopping

A Little Bit of Everything In London, it’s hard not to find a store to fall in love with, and knowing that many of the same chains (Whittard and Chelsea, HMV, etc.) pop up in different shopping areas will enable you to seek out the more unusual, unique and offbeat options, as well as the essential, classic options.

Read on for suggested activities...

Morning

When you get off the train, you’ll be able to hit any number of destinations. For one of London’s oldest retailers, Piccadilly has Fortnum and Mason, with excellent gourmet items and traditional department store items. For a classic take on London shopping, head to Oxford Street and Selfridges, with an extensive selection of designer clothing, furnishings, and cosmetics. Like many of London’s department stores, it’s also a place to grab a cup of coffee.

Afternoon

Once you exit Selfridges & Co. on Oxford Street, you’re within close proximity to Marylebone, your gateway to unique boutiques and shops, such as one of London’s premiere independent booksellers, the beautiful Daunt Books, which boasts an extensive collection of travel literature. When it’s time for a break from walking, find a bench in nearby Hyde Park.

For contemporary British fashion, there are countless options. A quick tube ride (or meandering walk) puts you within striking distance of stores from punk pioneer and now legendary Vivienne Westwood, whimsical handbag designer Lulu Guinness and women and menswear from Ben Sherman.
