A Day of Cycling Strasbourg & Zipping through the Alsatian Treetops

Adventure

A Day of Cycling Strasbourg & Zipping through the Alsatian Treetops Morning

Start your day of adventure early and rent a bicycle at the Strasbourg train station. From there, begin your self-guided cycling tour of the city by following the marked cycling route across the River Ill into the heart of the Le Petite France, home to a beautiful array of 16th century half timber houses. Pass through the pedestrian area of the city to the island where Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-Strasbourg stands.

Ride past a succession of 18th century buildings towards Schiltigheim, the brewery town and then the road takes you to the 18th century castle, Château de Pourtalès following the banks of the Aar and Marne-Rhine canal. Continue on to Orangerie Park and the German quarter, passing the botanical gardens and Citadel Park laid out around 17th century fortifications. Beyond the port, reach the Pont de l'Europe bridge, which allows a brief step over the German border into the city of Kehl. On your way back to the train station, you will ride past the glass façade of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

Afternoon

Cycle the extra five miles south to reach the suburb of Ostwald for the next part of your adventure. Natura Adventure Parc is set in a forest of 200-year-old oak trees and it is here that you will get a chance to climb, jump, abseil and fly through the treetops. The park offers 11 courses, 175 features and 28 rope slides including two which start at a height of 70 feet. Get fitted for a harness, gloves and practice on a zip line close to the ground. Several zip lines are hung between platforms from trees and you’ll zip between two platforms at a time. Feel the adrenaline rush through your body as you zip along the line and land safely in the next tree.
